What do you know about the best two outstanding Reggae /Dancehall Artists in Ghana?

Music is one of the most important things human beings can ever think of due to what many people get from it. These songs we have been hearing and listening to have one way or the other had some level impact on our lives in terms psychological, emotional, and social. Some music artists are better in producing music full of advice, motivation, faithfulness, fun and even tragic ones especially those played at funeral grounds. This has brought about the various categories of songs or tracks, with the case of Ghana the types of these music includes ‘highlife music’, ’hiplife music’. Rap, ‘adadamu’, gospel music, hip hop, dancehall/reggae music and many more.

From the types of music patterns mentioned earlier, one of the fattest growing of all in the country is the dancehall music. Gone are the days when people enter beer bars and clubs as well as concert parties to listen to highlife music or any of the others but today, many people in the country especially the youth are mostly into music of either rap or dancehall but it seems the dancehall had already overtaken the rap music. Someone may ask, why dancehall music? The answer to this question is very simple as the love for dancehall music in the country can be attributed to the two outstanding dancehall artists in Ghana namely Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy. These two people can be said to be the most popular and influential artists in the country from the last five years due to the love people have for the songs. Below are some details of the great musicians in the country you should know.

Shatta Wale.

He is popularly known as the dancehall king by his followers due to an award he won at the beginning of his music career. Born October 17, 1984 (age 35 years), Accra, He had his highest education level at Winneba Secondary School in the Central Region of Ghana. Charles Nii Armmah Mensah is his real name as he uses Shatta Wale as his stage and performing name. The man hails from the Greater Accra region of Ghana and particularly a town called Korle gonor as he use to mention in most of his songs. Formally, Charles Nii Armma was using the stage name Bandana in the early years of his musical life until recently that he changed it. This was due to his shift from hiplife music to his  area of specialization dancehall/reggae. Currently, he is a singer, song writer as well as actor and also the pioneer or CEO of the Shatta Movement Empire (SM).

Through his hardworking habit, he won the artist of the year at the 2015 Vodafone Ghana music Awards for his first and best single song titled ‘Dancehall King’ which led to his booming in the music system. He was also labelled as “Most Influential Musician” on the various social media platforms in 2017. He has won 8 awards at the 3Music Awards in 2019 and also the most awarded dancehall artist in Africa, is he not amazing? He has featured in many songs alongside any outstanding artist both in Ghana and the rest of the world like Beyonce, Sarkodie, Samini, Kwesi Arthur, Becca, Medikal, Patoranking and many more. When it comes to acting, he has featured in numerous movies at which he sometimes acts very comic.

Stonbwoy

Livingstone Etse Satekla, better known by his stage name Stonebwoy, is a Ghanaian Afropop, dance hall and reggae singer who have been in the system for quite long but not as Shatta Wale. Stonebwoy was born on March 5, 1988 (age 32 years).He hails from the Volta Region and but now lives in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana and particularly in a town named Ashaiman. He is happily married to one Louisa Ansong who is a Dentist in 2017. He is the pioneer or CEO of Burniton Music Group who are now flaunting in the country as Bhim Nation. He won the Best International Act: Africa category at the 2015 BET Awards and Artist of the Year at the 2015 Ghana Music Awards. He is also a recipient of two billboard plaques with his song with Keri Hilson titled ‘Nominate’. He has been described by many people in the country and even Africa as the best African Reggae artist due to the way his songs goes with other International Reggae artists.

Stonebwoy is now one of the musicians who is on the rise currently in Ghana due to his recent hits like ‘My name’,Enku lenu, and especially with his freestyle single titled ‘Putuu’ which he released just some few months ago.

In all, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy are indeed raising the flag of Ghana to the rest of the world with their outstanding performances in the music industry, let’s keep on the heat and support these hardworking artists and push them to the top because that is what they have got to keep the country interesting to be in.
